Enactus South Africa National Champions make it to the Top 16 at the Enactus World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand: University of the Witwatersrand makes SA proud

Team Wits shines on the global stage, securing a Top 16 spot at the 2025 Enactus World Cup in Bangkok.

The University of the Witwatersrand, Enactus South Africa’s National Champions, proudly represented the country at the 2025 Enactus World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand. This dynamic youth-led team traveled with two interconnected enterprises, each designed to tackle pressing social challenges in innovative ways. Drip Tailors: Tackling Textile Waste and Youth Unemployment Drip Tailors, based in Braamfontein, addresses the dual challenges of textile waste and youth unemployment. By upcycling discarded clothing, the enterprise provides affordable tailoring services, a practical academy for unemployed youth, and an online platform for local designers. In its first year, Drip Tailors trained 23 young people, served over 140 customers, and generated more than R25,000 in revenue, all while diverting clothing from landfills. The project demonstrates how creativity and social entrepreneurship can transform everyday problems into impactful solutions. HRA Transportation: Affordable Moving and Storage Solutions for Students Building on the lessons learned from Drip Tailors, the team launched HRA Transportation, which meets the growing demand for affordable moving, storage, and refrigeration services for students and young professionals. Operating as a digital, student-first platform, HRA offers services at less than half the cost of traditional movers and storage providers. Since its launch, HRA has served over 200 moving clients and 25 fridge rentals, generating more than R355,000 in revenue. The project has created part-time employment for seven student workers and provided steady income for two local drivers, achieving a remarkable 94% client satisfaction rate. Competing Globally: From League 5 to the Top 16 At the World Cup, the Wits team was placed in League 5 alongside teams from Colombia, Canada, and Italy, where they presented their projects and showcased the impact of their enterprises. Their compelling presentations and innovative solutions secured them a spot in the Top 16, where they advanced to League 3 with Kazakhstan, Tunisia, and UK & Ireland. While their journey concluded there, the team’s performance demonstrated the power of creativity, dedication, and collaboration on a global stage. The Enactus South Africa community celebrates the University of the Witwatersrand for their hard work, ingenuity, and commitment to social impact. Their journey at the Enactus World Cup 2025 is a testament to the transformative potential of youth-led enterprises, and the community wishes them continued success and prosperity with their impactful projects.
